Delft blue, and what came after it

Delftware began as an imitation of Chinese porcelain and became a tradition of its own: tin-glazed earthenware painted in blue, made in quantity for the Dutch home.

What to look for

A tin glaze that chips white rather than clear, hand-painted blue, and a Delft or maker's mark on the base.
