Mid-Century Modern
Honest materials, honestly joined
The post-war answer to Art Deco was to stop hiding anything: teak stays teak, a joint is allowed to be visible, and a form is a form. The confidence is in the restraint rather than in the finish.
It is the most reproduced style in the list, which makes it the one where provenance matters most. The design is rarely the question — the wood, the joins and the label are.
What to look for
Visible joinery, warm woods, tapered legs, and a label or stamp underneath.
